The island of Rhodes has some of the most spectacular panoramic views to be found in Greece. Running through the centre of the island is a mountain range with green woods and pine forests.
Hidden amongst these are sights that are little visited but boast amazing views and forgotten gems. The day begins with a short drive to Tsambika monastery, famous for restoring faith and fulfilling wishes of those struggling with fertility. Positioned on top of a small mountain overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Tsambika monastery possesses the most mesmerising 360 degree panoramic view overlooking Tsambika beach.
Following on you will then visit the monastery at Filerimos, famous for the peacocks that freely wander its grounds and its viewing area where the Aegean Sea with its turquoise waters can be seen stretching towards Asia Minor.
Then heading inland you will travel to the mountains to enjoy a traditional lunch in a picturesque village overlooking vineyards and orchards stretching down to the Aegean.
Continuing on you will be taken up into the cooling mountains to visit some of the hidden treasures that are off the main tourist routes before heading back to your hotel.
This is a tour that you must bring your camera
A degree of fitness is required for the first attraction as there are 300 steps up to the chapel. This is on a gradual incline and is shaded by canopies of trees and seats situated along the way.
For those not wishing to walk to the chapel at the top there is a cafe by the car park with an impressive viewing area overlooking Kolympia and Afandou.
